Jacquesson ‘Champ Caïn’

Bright 14ct gold gold. Attractive bready flavours on the nose which one might describe as a ‘sourdough breath’. Flavours of toast, almond, courgettes and lemons on the palate. Noticeably less dosage but even so there is some sense of residual sugar all the same even if ‘extra’. The mousse is gentle but persistent giving a very smooth mouth feel. Good length and balance. Very elegant. Unfiltered.

This vineyard is now 50 years old. The excellent conditions from the vintage benefitted the Chardonnay which are ranged south facing across the base of the hillside in Avize. Already had 8 years on the lees before disgorgement with only 2g/litre. Based on the 2002 vintage.
