Claire Foster-Gilbert is a moral philosopher and theologian who has worked in the fields of medical ethics and environmental theology for many years. She read theology at Balliol College Oxford, was a research fellow at the Centre of Medical Law and Ethics, King's College, London specialising in the ethics of medical research on humans, then national adviser to the Church of England on ethics in science, medicine, technology and environmental issues, and a Lay Canon at St Paul's Cathedral where she co-founded its Institute for Ethics. She founded her own educational charity, the Ethics Academy, which teaches moral courage to young people using the story of the hero's journey. She is development director at St Martin-in-the-Fields and consultant in public ethics to the Dean and Chapter of Westminster Abbey.
