David R. Green

David R. Green is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Environment at the University of Aberdeen and a specialist in the application of the geospatial technologies to the environment including vineyards. This includes GIS, remote sensing, digital mapping, mobile GIS and web-GIS. He teaches a module in the Geography of Wine at the University of Aberdeen, and has had an interest in English, US and Canadian Viticulture since the late 1970s when he helped to plant and manage a vineyard near Cambridge, England, and later carried out fieldwork at the Horticultural Research Institute of Ontario (HRIO) / University of Toronto at Vineland on the Niagara Escarpment in the mid-1980s. David is Director of the Applied Geospatial Information Science M.Sc. degree programme at the University of Aberdeen, past Chairman of the Association for Geographic Information (AGI), and past Editor in Chief of The Cartographic Journal. He is currently a participant in the Wine Speciality Group of the Association of American Geographers (AAG).
